Arched Niche and Woven Pendant in a Soft Mediterranean Kids Room

Before: a minimal single bed and small table sit in a narrow neutral room with a large window and bare walls. After: the concept adds a woven pendant, an illuminated arched niche, floating cubbies and a cushioned window bench to enrich the layout. The updated concept keeps the bed’s position but introduces under-bed drawers, a woven rug, terracotta and olive-green textiles, and natural textures that emphasize a Mediterranean sensibility while working with the existing window placement.

The Transformation Journey

The before image shows a very simple setup: single wooden bed, matching table and chair, pale walls and a wide casement window that brings in daylight. The AI concept builds on that geometry by inserting storage under the bed, a cushioned window seat with drawers below, and a small rounded desk tucked beside the bed. Visually striking additions include a layered woven pendant centered in the ceiling, an arched recessed niche with soft LED backlighting above the bed, and floating cubby shelves with olive-green backing that create focal points and child-scaled storage while leaving the window unobstructed.

What This Transformation Achieved

  • Introduced an arched recessed niche with integrated backlighting above the bed as a focal feature
  • Added built-in window bench with cushioned seat and storage drawers beneath
  • Installed floating cubby shelving with olive-green backing and under-bed drawers for added storage

Style Transformation

What we did: space transform to Action: Photorealistically remodel the provided kids' bedroom into a Modern Mediterranean concept. Apply warm creamy lime plaster walls with subtle trowel texture and slightly warmer off-white ceiling. Replace plain baseboards with a low natural stone skirting at the perimeter where visible. Add a low, child-safe oak platform bed with rounded edges and integrated under-bed drawers positioned along the right wall in the same location as the original bed; dress it with breathable off-white linen, terracotta throw blanket folded at the foot, and olive-green and soft terracotta pillows. Install a shallow built-in window seat in the existing window recess with a soft olive linen cushion and two pull-out storage drawers beneath, keeping the window unchanged. Replace the current small desk with a rounded-corner oak kids' desk and matching chair scaled to the room, positioned by the window as before. Add a low, wall-mounted bookshelf with three cubbies above the desk with olive-toned painted back panels. Place a warm terracotta ceramic table lamp on the desk. On the wall behind the bed, create a small natural stone accent ledge (like a mini shelf) for toys and a recessed rounded plaster niche with soft indirect LED strip for night light. Add a woven jute area rug centered in the open floor area ensuring clear circulation pathways (leave minimum clear play space in the center and at the entry). Introduce a medium potted non-toxic olive sapling in a matte terracotta pot near the foot of the bed to bring olive tones and natural texture. Swap the ceiling fixture to a simple woven rattan pendant with warm 2700–3000K daylight-balanced bulbs to create warm, realistic daylight and soft indoor shadows. Materials and textures must read photorealistic: creamy textured plaster, honed natural stone, matte terracotta ceramics, light oak grain, linen and knit textiles, woven jute. Lighting: realistic daylight from the existing window plus soft ambient from the pendant and niche LED; natural soft shadows and correct reflection on floor. Preserve architectural shell and openings: leave the window, doorway, and wall positions unchanged and maintain accessible circulation and scale. Child-safety constraints: rounded edges, low furniture heights, anchored shelving, visible clear floor area for play. No people, no logos, no text, no collage. Output: a single high-resolution photorealistic image of the remodeled interior from the same camera angle and framing as the original photo, believable materials and scale, accurate daylight and shadows. style; preserve layout and structural elements; maintain existing style elements; DO NOT change walls or structural elements; DO NOT modify structural elements or windows; photorealistic, high-quality, professional interior design photography; maintain existing style aesthetic; web-optimized, crisp details; 2048x1152 for web

AI Reasoning:Create one photorealistic Modern Mediterranean kids' room renovation: apply creamy plaster walls, natural stone skirting, low oak platform bed with terracotta and olive textiles, window seat with storage, child-scaled desk and bookshelf, jute rug, potted olive sapling, woven pendant and soft niche lighting. Preserve window and doorway locations, maintain clear play space, realistic materials and daylight. No people/logos/text.

Will the existing bed fit with under-bed drawers shown in the concept?

The concept shows drawers integrated beneath a low wooden bed frame; measure the current bed clearance and frame depth to confirm you can add drawer units or replace the frame with a similar low-profile storage bed.

How does the arched niche affect wall mounting or lighting?

The niche in the concept is shallow with backlighting; if replicating, check for wall studs and plan wiring access for LED strips behind the niche. The location aligns with the existing bed head, so mounting points should follow the bed’s visible headboard height.
